in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, CLOUDBURST are hosting a New Writing Night.

 

It’s called Leg Breakers.

A night of short-form playwriting — the scratchiest of scratches. Bring your short plays, bring your scenes, bring the ideas you’re ready to test, wrangle, and refine.

Your work will be performed by our team of actors, live at Night and Day Café, in front of a lively and supportive audience. Though this is an unpaid event, we’ll provide dramaturgical support, and as much guidance and encouragement as we can. We’re also planning to capture the night with photography and video footage so that every writer has a lasting record of their work being brought to life.

We’ll be selecting 6 x 15-minute short plays or scenes for the evening. Apply now via our Google Form; available through the Cloudburst Website and Socials, or the link below.

Submissions are open from now until December 15th.
Leg Breakers will take place Tuesday 10th Feb 2026.
