We’re used to sacrifices and candlelight rituals set historically, but what would drive someone to perform such a ritual today, what would that look like, and what happens when it works?
So, on the first kitchen island in Wilmslow, the Cold War disappearing in the rearview mirror of her Rover 600, surrounded by frosted tips, wide jeans, and Pulp, Claire is about to perform her first sacrifice. She doesn’t know who she’s calling out to, but something is going to answer.
